The wind chest follows the divisons of the keyboard, widening slightly in the bass. Depending on the model, I sometimes make a wind chest with dividing walls. This allows the air to be chanelled into several distinct canals. This has the advantage of intaining the air pressure throughout the whole keyboard regardless of the number of keys depressed at any one time, keeping the pitch stable.
